With the car resting on the suspension as it normally does, engine off,
emergency brake set, and transmission in park or first gear, sitting level
on the ground, open the hood and remove the rubber boots which cover the
shock top mounting nuts and bushings. Remove the top nut only from each
shock, place the mounting bracket onto the shock end stud and then replace
the top nut but do not tighten it yet.
Now thread the turnbuckles out on the cross brace so that the holes in the
turnbuckles line up with the holes in the mounting brackets. Make sure that both turnbuckles are threaded out evenly.
Place the bar down over the engine such that it arcs over the air plenum
and place the bolts through the bracket and turnbuckle and tighten the
bolt to secure the bar in place.
Tighten the shock bolts down on the end brackets.
Now adjust the angle of the bar in the turnbuckles so that the bar freely
clears the air plenum and tighten the turnbuckle nuts against the bar to
lock it into place.
Step back and admire your newly installed strut brace, you're finished installing it.

With the car resting on the suspension as it normally does, engine off,
emergency brake set, and transmission in park or first gear, sitting level
on the ground, open the hood and remove the top strut mount nuts. Leave
the little rubber plug in the fourth, unoccupied hole of each shock tower,
you will be installing the mounting brackets over the plug.
Take a look at the electrical harnes plug mounting bracket on the driver's
side shock tower and the air conditioning plumbing bracket on the passenger's
side shock tower.
You may need to carefully bend these brackets slightly in, with your thumb,
toward the engine, about a quarter to a half inch so that they will clear
the strut brace mounting brackets and cross bar.
Place the mounting bracket down over the strut studs and retighen the strut
top mount nuts. Start with the inner nut, as it is the trickiest. You will
be able to use an open end wrench to tighten it between the two upritghts of
the mounting bracket. Then tighten the other two strut top mounting nuts.
Now thread the turnbuckles of the cross bar out on the cross brace so that
the holes in the turnbuckles line up with the holes in the mounting brackets.
Make sure that both turnbuckles are threaded out evenly.
You may find that the upright tabs on the mounting brackets have sprung
slightly inward after you tightened the mounting brackets onto the strut
towers. They may be very tight on clearance for the turnbuckles. This
is normal, just carefully spring the mounting surface apart slightly to
allow just enough clearance for the turnbuckles.
Place the bar down over the engine such that it arcs over the engine
and place the bolts through the bracket and turnbuckle and tighten the
bolt to secure the bar in place.
Now adjust the angle of the bar in the turnbuckles so that the bar freely
clears the air plenum and throttle body and tighten the turnbuckle nuts against
the bar to lock it into place.

With the car resting on the suspension as it normally does, engine off,
emergency brake set, and transmission in park or first gear, sitting level
on the ground, open the trunk. Remove the top rear shock nuts only, place
the end bracket onto the shock end stud and then replace the top nut but
do not tighten it yet.
Now thread the turnbuckles of the cross bar out on the cross brace so that
the holes in the turnbuckles line up with the holes in the mounting brackets.
Make sure that both turnbuckles are threaded out evenly.
Place the bar across trunk or cargo bay and place the bolts through the
bracket and turnbuckle and tighten the bolt to secure the bar in place.
Tighten the shock bolts down on the end brackets.
Now turn the bar to preload compression into the cross bar and tighten
the turnbuckle nuts against the bar to lock it into place.

With the car resting on the suspension as it normally does, engine off,
emergency brake set, and transmission in park or first gear, sitting level
on the ground, open the trunk. Remove the trunk side trim and rear seatbelt brackets.
Install the modified seatbelt brackets which are supplied with your new strut brace.
Tighten them into place snugly.
Reinstall the trunk trim and trim a small square into the trunk side trim
pieces to allow the turnbuckle tabs to extend through and clear of the trim.
Now thread the turnbuckles of the cross bar out on the cross brace so that the holes in the
turnbuckles line up with the holes in the mounting brackets. Make sure
that both turnbuckles are threaded out evenly.
Place the bar across trunk or cargo bay and place the bolts through the
bracket and turnbuckle and tighten the bolt to secure the bar in place.
Now turn the bar to preload compression into the cross bar and tighten
the turnbuckle nuts against the bar to lock it into place.
Step back and admire your newly installed strut brace, you're finished installing it.
With the car resting on the suspension as it normally does, engine off,
emergency brake set, and transmission in park or first gear, sitting level
on the ground, open the trunk and rear doors. Remove the rear trim around
the rear deck and the sides of the rear seats as though you were preparing
to remove the rear struts.
Remove the rear seatbelt brackets.
Remove the inner and outer strut top nuts.
Place the mounting brackets with the mounting tabs extending through the
small hole at the inward rear corner of the strut mount area such that
they extend into the trunk, replace the strut top mount nuts, and tighten
the brackets into position.
Reinstall your rear seatbelt brackets and all your trim pieces that you removed.
Now, back around in the trunk, thread the turnbuckles of the cross bar out
on the cross brace so that the holes in the turnbuckles line up with the holes
in the mounting brackets. Make sure that both turnbuckles are threaded out evenly.
Place the bar across trunk and place the bolts through the bracket and
turnbuckle and tighten the bolt to secure the bar in place.
Now turn the bar to preload compression into the cross bar and tighten
the turnbuckle nuts against the bar to lock it into place.
