Isuzu and General Motors Terminology

Japanese car manufacturer acquired and controlled by General Motors. Isuzu has essentially operated as GM Japan.

Multinational car manufacturer that controled Isuzu among others. Rebadged Isuzu made vehicles as well as vehicles made by other manufacturers. Uses Isuzu designed and made parts in their vehicles produced in the US and around the world.

General Motors subsidiary that sold rebadged Japanese made cars prior to the introduction of the Geo brand name.

General Motors US market name only subsiderary operated between 1989 and 2000 to sell rebadged cars made for General Motors by mostly Japanese companies. A marketting tool used to fool stuborn Americans into buying reliable Japanese made cars.

Transitioned from selling uniquely made vehicles exclusive to the brand name, to selling rebadged GM vehicles, and finally rebadged vehicles made by GM's foreign subsidiaries, before finally closing down and ceasing all operations.
